Eco per flauti for 2 solo flutes (1980)

Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil

Composer’s note

Eco per flauti is part of a cycle of miniatures written for friends, composed in one go, intuitively. It was written for talented young flautists with whom I shared student ties – Wanda Balcar and the unforgettable Liliana Kordecka.

The piece is a sonic play on time and space. There is also a version for a single flute with delay, arranged for Grzegorz Olkiewicz. The premiere of Eco per flauti took place in Warsaw on 4 June 1980. Since then, Eco in both versions has continued to travel far and wide thanks to successive performers. It is a great honour for the piece to have been included in the repertoire of the outstanding Polish flautists Agata Kielar-Długosz and Łukasz Długosz.
